Cosmogrammatics

Community Guidelines

Cosmogrammatics was designed as an interface for collective publishing and thinking. The thoughts and ideas shared in this forum are typically work-in-progress, based on field notes, recordings, web finds, self-recorded moving image, found footage, and other things that tell stories about infrastructures as speculative media. We use comments instead of peer review, that is to say, we invite everyone to become a friendly peer reviewer: to share feedback and add their thoughts and resources via the comment function.

Peer engagement is essential for research, and yet it often stays invisible. We would like to allow collaborative thinking to flourish and encourage a fair and nourishing conversation between authors and commenters. We hope that the comment function supports a meaningful engagement with the work of the authors and lends itself to acknowledging the contributions of commenters.

If you would like to comment, please carefully read the following:

– Authors may actively invite commenters they want to be in conversation with and/or accept general comments.

– Authors are notified of new comments and have the opportunity to accept and publish comments as they are or reach out to the commenter. Commenters thus become conversation partners and contributors. Their comments are either published as additional layers to the authors’ pieces or acknowledged through a footnote if the authors decide to edit their text in response to a comment. This way comments don’t get resolved and disappear but add to an evolving network of thoughts.

– We encourage comments that are additive and specific. Please avoid *splaining, and respect the different kinds of expertise and experiences that contributors bring to the table.

– Commenters can’t comment on the entire piece but are called upon to define where they would like to contribute, and how. To comment, please mark a piece of text and add your thoughts in the bubble that pops up in the column to the right of the piece.

– The exchange of information, experience and knowledge can be multifaceted, and we would like to allow for a wide variety of engagement. You are welcome to post your own thoughts or add references, links, images or videos. In the latter cases, please supply a short explanation or context.

– Comments that reinforce systemic oppression related to gender, gender identity and expression, trans status, sexual orientation, dis-ability, mental illness, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, age, race, or religion (or lack thereof), ethnicity, and socioeconomic status will be deleted (cf. Constant Collaboration Guidelines, v. 7, Oct 2023, ).
